Even with the availability of new and improved technology, Taare Zameen Par still stands out against the rest. It is a story about a 9-year old boy who has been held back from school due to his dyslexia. However, this doesn't stop him from wondering about life's meaning and being inquisitive about everything. He teaches himself how to read using his imagination and through teaching others becomes a teacher himself. Along with teaching, he also takes up an academy in architecture in order to build things instead of destroy them (which is what he does when he has an itch). The director, Aamir Khan, has also written the story of the movie along with the script for it. Taare Zameen Par was originally supposed to be made into a Bollywood movie, but due to the 2007–08 Writers' strike in India it was delayed. This is why Aamir Khan decided to make it into a Bollywood-Hindi version of Taare Zameen Par. Currently, Aamir Khan is working on an English-language film adaptation called "The Kid With A Bike". The actors of the movie are baby-faced Aamir Khan himself, who is a class-mate of his, and a group of seniors from a school called St. Xavier's. The character of Taare Zameen Par is played by Meera Sanyal, an Indian actress from Delhi. Meera has acted in many Hindi films as well as superhits such as "Ishqiya" and "Dishkiyaoon". The role of Fatima is played by Tina Desi from Mumbai. She acted alongside Akshay Kumar in the Telugu movie "Yevadu". Tina Desi has also done her debut in Punjabi movies. The role of Nisha, the mother, is played by Malaika Shenoy from India. She has done many roles in Hindi movies such as "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and "Lagaan". The movie was made with a budget of 30 crore Indian rupees (about $6 million). It was released on 20 November 2007 and earned about 95 crore (about $15 million) worldwide. It earned 1.0 billion (about $16 million) in India and 550 million (about $9.5 million) overseas, for a total worldwide gross of 1.55 billion (about $26 million). The film was released in over 675 theatres in India alone. Taare Zameen Par completed 80% of its shooting schedule and wrapped up its post-production by the middle of December. The music for the movie is composed by A. R. Rahman, who has done several other successful Bollywood movies such as "Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa". He also did the music for a few Hollywood movies such as "127 Hours" and "Slumdog Millionaire". The song "Taaray Taaray" composed by A. R. cfa1e77820
